The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is a mountain tourism route connecting Toyama and Nagano. This route is one of the world’s most famous mountain tourism routes through the Northern Alps, a mountain range of 3,000-meter-high peaks.
The total length of the trail is 37.2 km, with a maximum height difference of 1,975 m. Almost all of the trail is within the Chubu-Sangaku National Park. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent nature of Tateyama Kurobe above the clouds by taking the train from Tateyama Station in Tateyama Town on the Toyama Prefecture side to Ogisawa Station in Omachi City on the Nagano Prefecture side, passing through a number of scenic spots.
Especially in spring, you can enjoy the famous Snow Corridor in Tateyama. The best time to visit the Snow Wall is from April to mid-May.
You can enjoy the route from either Toyama or Nagano. However, tours are generally organized with Nagano as the starting point.
These are the most popular tours. These tours depart from Nagano Station. If you catch an early morning Shinkansen from Tokyo, you can join this tour.
There are other tours available. The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is open from mid-April to mid-November, so tours are sold according to this time of year. In particular, the Snow Corridor tour is available only in spring.
